Fire Marshal

The Fire Prevention and Protection Division was created by Troup County Ordinance under Chapter 62, Article IV with the responsibilities of enforcing all laws, ordinances and codes pertaining to the prevention of fires, the storage and use of explosives and flammables, installation and maintenance of fire alarm and extinguishing systems, maintenance and regulation of means and adequacy of exits and investigation of the origin, cause and circumstances of fires.

Currently, the Fire Prevention and Protection Division utilizes the State of Georgia Minimum Fire Safety Standards, International Fire Code and applicable NFPA Codes and Standards. The Fire Prevention and Protection Division works with the Troup County Community Development department to conduct licensing and inspections of new businesses and commercial development.

Fire Inspections

New businesses and commercial development inspections will be scheduled as the license or permit applications are filed with the Community Development department

Georgia Arson Hotline

The Georgia Arson Hotline: +1 800 282 5804 is a toll free tip line that offers rewards of up to $10,000.00 if callers provide information that leads to the arrest and conviction of an arsonist. Callers and reward recipients may remain anonymous.
